Wow it's been a long time since I last updated here! But then, life hasn't exactly been that exciting really - one of the meds I'm taking has bizarre effects so sometimes I will be unable to remember a thing or be able to spell etc. Kinda irritating really. But life goes on.
My phone died unexpectedly yesterday, just wouldn't turn on - made a little "meep" and that was it :( So today I had to get a new one and ended up with a shiny SonyEricsson K550i. And it is shiny. Very shiny. So shiny that I'm not quite sure what to do with it - my last one I could just shove in my pocket and it'd be fine. Not quite sure what to do with this one - I'm starting to think that buying the "cover" might have been a good idea after all... |

Top tip, don't touch the side of a frying pan whilst you're cooking (nurses fingers) |

Well I just got back from a fun holiday in Pembrokeshire, was far too short though! I can recommend YHA Manorbier, even if it is a bit remote but that's part of the attraction :)
So now I am waiting for my cousin's wedding DVD to encode and it's about as interesting as watching paint dry. Still gives me an opportunity to try and sort my room out a bit I guess... |

Where is everyone? Did everyone get lives or have people moved onto Facebook? In case you're wondering, I'm talking about my friends page, which has been empty for days.
As for me, I went to my cousin's wedding last weekend. It was great fun, although I got roped into doing the official wedding DVD at the last minute so am now going to be spending my evenings/weekends editing the footage. Still, it makes an ideal wedding present as I had no idea what to get them! |

hmm getting out of the shower and smelling like you just got out of an over chlorinated swimming pool is just wrong. Still, at least the water is drinkable if boiled first. |

I have water!! I can't drink, wash up or cook with it but at least I can shower and wash clothes... Luckily for me I arrived back at the house the day the water was turned back on. They reckon it could be up to 2 weeks before it's drinkable though so more bottled water and bowsers for a while. |

I feel initiated, I finally received "owl status" at Brownies. So now I am "Barn Owl". I had to politely decline the offer of the name "Little Owl" ;) |

So.. it appears I am teaching intermediate English and leading the Bible session on the "Damascas Road" experience. Hungary is going to be cool but also scary it appears! Only 4 English volunteers (at my particular camp) and far more responsibility than Ukraine. Still, at least we had a training day this time.
But now I am suffering from information overload and lack of sleep due to housewarming party straight afterwards (having travelled across the country). Meh, today is a lazy day. |

OK has anyone ever booked flights online?
When they say "first name" do they literally mean just your first name or do they also want your middle names? I decided to test this out, I want to book with flights4less (formerly lastminute.com) which strips the spaces and turns it into one long string with capitals and when I tried it with Opodo the spaces ran out before I could fit all my middle names in!
The reason I ask is because they (this is all websites) specify "your name exactly as in passport" (or something along those lines) and if I get it wrong then the terms and conditions of the ticket say I can't get a refund and I effectively lose £150+. Nice.
Quick responses would be appreciated as I need to get these flights booked pronto :) |

So I went on my first Brownie Camp last weekend. Like ever (I never got to go as a Brownie :( ). 'Twas a bit scary and I did have a set-back in my fit-free status but apart from that it was a good camp and great fun.
I enjoyed the wedding, it was good to see people again who I hadn't seen in ages (some more ages than others, such as good ol' "Dr John"). Just wish I hadn't felt so rubbish. Meh.
Still, I finally resigned as a Unit Helper last night and am now officially a Pre-Warranted Leader. I received my Leadership Pack and everything (scary!) so there's no turning back now ;) |

Now that the summer's coming and I have a lot more free time on my hands I've started to get out and go walking at weekends. Average length of walks is about 10-15 miles, half the fun is planning the routes on my OS maps beforehand! I'm also keeping a journal, with route and wildlife information, although I'm not sure what I'll do with it yet. |

It was brought home to me again yesterday: I suck at clothes shopping. Thankfully my sister was my stylist for the day, sadly I didn't manage to get everything I needed so finding a top on my own will be fun. My mum and sister despair at me. I despair at me!
I had to stop myself getting distracted by shiny Canon DSLRs on sale in Jessops :(
Still, today went with my dad on the London Eye and to the National Gallery. Twas fun, and though I don't have much of a clue about clothing style, I do know how to take semi-decent photographs ;) |

*sigh* Seems I've joined the "victims of Britain's yob culture" brigade. Some kids decided to throw a stone through my bedroom window as they were passing. So 10 seconds mindless action turned into 30 mins of reporting, phoning landlords etc... Now I've got to try and remove all shards of glass from my room, that should be fun. |

Had my EEG this week. Surprisingly enough they didn't find anything seeing as I tend to fit in the afternoon/evening and I had the test first thing in the morning... Still, the guy who did it told me which images to look up so if you want to see what an epileptic's brain looks like have a look at these images:

Duggie Dug Dug (aka Doug Horley) came to Salem this weekend which was fun. We had 157 people (plus 15 or so team) on the Saturday which was brilliant, especially as most were kids from the outside the church invited by their friends. I got to be a puppeteer for one of the songs which was fun and also collecting tickets at the door which was kinda chaotic when everyone arrived at 5:55 for a 6pm start! Still, everyone enjoyed it and comments such as "church can be fun" was a common theme :)
He led the service this morning which was slightly more toned down but his message was just as powerful: "What a hope we have in Jesus". |

You've probably seen this already but I thought some of the photography is amazing, I put in my parents' home address and the detail is quite scary! OK, I'm not a fan of microsoft but they have done a pretty good job. The photos of Manchester aren't great, however they do appear to be at least 3 years old which could be why.

Hmm, somewhat windy today! Almost got blown over twice (although it was ok to/from work strangely, that'll teach me to venture outside at lunchtime!) Sadly my friend Abbie who was coming to stay is stranded in Manchester due to there being a distinct lack of trains going anywhere today. Still, at least she's not stranded on a train somewhere... |

I've joined the iPod generation... I went into the Apple store and they were selling their old iPod shuffles with 50% off because of the new postage stamp sized ones. Seeing as I don't care about having the newest and shiniest thing I went for an old style one. Funny thing is, I got it for half the price I paid for my last mp3 player (an old Rio which died after a battery leak) and it has 8 times the memory! Funny how things change...
Still, at least train journeys should pass a bit quicker now :) |
